People ask us the same question every week: what will Reformer Pilates actually do for me, and how long does it take? Here is an honest answer, week by week, based on what we see in clients at our Reformer Pilates studio on Al Reem Island. Everyone is different, but if you come two to three times a week, this is roughly how the first 8 weeks feel.
Weeks 1 and 2: learning the reformer
The first classes are about learning the machine: the moving carriage, the springs, the footbar and the straps. Your instructor sets your springs and shows you the easier option of every move.
What you notice: muscles you did not know you had, especially deep in your core and around your hips. Breathing with the movement starts to feel natural. Expect to feel worked the next day, in a good way.
Weeks 3 and 4: control and posture
By now you know the basic exercises, so you can focus on doing them well. Movements get smoother and more controlled, and your instructor starts adding variations.
What you notice: you stand and sit taller without thinking about it. Your hips and hamstrings feel looser. Exercises that were hard in week 1 now feel steady.
Weeks 5 to 8: strength you can feel
This is where the benefits of Reformer Pilates become clear. Your core holds you through longer sequences, your balance improves, and you are ready for heavier springs or a harder class level.
What you notice: a stronger core and back, more toned legs and arms, better balance, and fewer aches from long days at a desk or in the car. Many clients say everyday things, like carrying shopping or sitting through a long meeting, feel easier.
How often to go
Two to three classes a week, with a rest day in between, is the sweet spot. Over 8 weeks that is 16 to 24 classes. An Advanced monthly membership (8 classes a month) covers two a week, and works out at AED 125 a class. See all options on our prices page. Prices exclude 5% VAT.
